Forest resources

The forests of the Forest District Świebodzin includes 318 forest complexes. Three the largest forest complexes cover the total area of 13 180,16 ha (56% of the Forest District area). The Forest District consists of 5 bigger forest complexes - each over 500 ha, with the total forest area of 5507,43 ha, what is 23 % of the administered area. Small complexes (with their forest areas between 20-500 ha) cover 4142, 34 ha in total, constituting 18% of the Forest District area. The other complexes, constituting 3 % of the area, form mainly small (several dozen acres or several hectares) forest areas, which are located close to the bigger complexes.

Silviculture

The aim of silviculture is ecosystem management of and already existing forests' enrichment, and shaping the new ones with respect of natural conditions and processes.

Forest use

Forest use means usage of its resources – timber harvesting, forest ground cover harvesting, plants harvesting in whole or partly for pharmaceutical industry, obtaining young conifers, exploitation of minerals, but also significant participation of forests in restricting global warming effect. The foresters enable the society to use forest crops in a manner ensuring its continuity and sustainability.

Forest management

Forest management in State Forests is based on the Forest Management Plans created for the Forest District once per 10 years.

Hunting

The areas of the Forest District Świebodzin, concerning hunting, belong to II Hunting Region. Within this area in 8 hunting districts, there manages 5 hunting associations and the Pedigree Breeding Establishment (OHZ). The hunting district 104 operates in the area of 9560 ha, including 5510 ha of the forests, while the hunting district 114 operates in the total area of 7280 ha, including 4345 ha of the forests.
